  • Agriculture and agribusiness represent the #1 industry in North Carolina, contributing $102 billion to the state’s economy.

  • North Carolina’s agriculture industry supports over 950,000 jobs.

TOP COMMODITIES

  • The State of North Carolina is ranked #1 nationally in production of sweetpotatoes and tobacco.

  • NC is also a leader in poultry such as broilers (chickens raised for meat) and turkey, eggs, hogs, soybeans, corn, cattle, and cotton.

Diverse Production

  • Over 80 different crops are grown in NC, including apples, peanuts, strawberries,
    and Christmas trees.

  • Alongside crops, livestock, aquaculture and wild-caught seafood are also vital
    contributors to the diversity within North Carolina’s agriculture industry.
